Inspired by the UK VetFutures Initiative, FVE started in 2016 a similar initiative on a European scale. It aims to identify challenges our profession is facing today and will face in the coming decades. Examples are the need for professional diversification, the need for improved support for new and recent graduates, attention to improve the wellbeing and work/life balance of vets and need for better use and uptake of IT-based solutions.
The report includes 19 actions covering six focus areas namely:
- Leaders of tomorrow;
- Rewarding career pathways;
- Broadening the veterinary role;
- Sustainable businesses;
- Wellbeing of the profession;
- Embracing innovation;
The report serves as a blueprint for FVE and its member associations at national level for the next years to work together to shape the future of the veterinary profession of tomorrow. Because vets are vital!
