HKScan Sweden joins Svenska Köttföretagen and streamlines its legal structure and operations

On 5th November, 2014, HKScan Sweden AB joined Svenska Köttföretagen AB, a new industry organization formed by a network of Swedish slaughtering companies. HKScan is a co-founder and key member of the newly formed company.

HKscanOn 5th November, 2014, HKScan Sweden AB joined Svenska Köttföretagen AB, a new industry organization formed by a network of Swedish slaughtering companies. HKScan is a co-founder and key member of the newly formed company.

HKScan Sweden has a 24 per cent share in the organization, which it co-owns with KLS Ugglarps, Skövde Slakteri, Dalsjöfors Kött, Dahlbergs, Ginsten and Nyhléns Hugosons.

One of HKScan’s strategic targets is to harmonize its Group structure and operations. HKScan will now further streamline its legal structure and strengthen its focus on its core businesses, with Svenska Köttföretagen AB to assume ownership of HKScan Sweden’s shares in Svenska Djurhälsovården AB (50%), Svenskt Kött i Sverige AB (16%) and Quality Genetics Sweden HB (92.6%). Additionally, HKScan’s ownership of Taurus Köttrådgivning AB (39,3%) and Svenska PIG AB (22%) will move to a new subsidiary of Svenska Köttföretagen AB specializing in advisory services. The subsidiary is to be named at a later stage.

Svenska Köttföretagen will join forces to promote competition-neutral meat-related issues and to actively strengthen the position of the Swedish meat industry and animal production. The organization also aims to work towards building a strong platform for the future growth of the Swedish meat industry and to actively participate in legislative and regulative processes as well as to openly participate in consumer and other stakeholder dialogue.

Providing a consistent voice for the Swedish meat industry, Svenska Köttföretagen will also offer specialized advisory services related to animal production, animal welfare and pig genetics. One of its ultimate targets is to enhance the productivity of Swedish animal production, which is known as a world-class performer in sustainability and animal welfare.
