The 17th edition of the European Symposium of Porcine Health Management (ESPHM 2026) successfully concluded in Florence, Italy, bringing together 1,500 attendees from 50 countries for three days of scientific exchange, innovation and international collaboration dedicated to swine health management.
Held from May 13–15, 2026, the congress featured a comprehensive scientific programme focused on the future of porcine health, sustainability, welfare, infectious disease management and technological innovation in livestock production.
The event confirmed its position as one of the leading international platforms for veterinarians, researchers, academics and industry professionals working in the swine sector. ESPHM 2026 received 530 abstract submissions, of which 479 were accepted. The programme included 61 oral presentations and flash talks, alongside 418 e-posters showcasing the latest advances in porcine health research and management.

Throughout the three-day congress, 4 keynote sessions addressed major challenges and opportunities for the sector, including innovation and trust-building in pig production, artificial intelligence and precision livestock farming, infectious disease management, circular economy approaches and future nutrition strategies.
Scientific sessions explored a broad range of topics including viral and bacterial diseases, immunology and vaccinology, reproduction, welfare and nutrition, veterinary public health, herd health management and antimicrobial resistance. Particular attention was given to emerging technologies, biosecurity strategies, PRRSV and swine influenza surveillance, precision feeding, microbiome research and sustainable production systems.
In addition to the scientific content, the symposium provided valuable networking opportunities through chaired poster sessions, social events and dedicated discussions between academia, practitioners and industry stakeholders from around the world.
The congress concluded with the official announcement of the 18th edition of the ESPHM, where the organizers are delighted to welcome the porcine health management community to Rennes, France May 12-14, 2027.
