The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) free Feed Education Program returns this year in a virtual format to the International Production & Processing Expo Marketplace Week to update attendees on recent changes within several federal agencies and provide an outlook for the animal food industry for 2021. The two-hour program, to be held Jan. 28, 2021, is ideal for animal food facility managers and operations and mill personnel looking to learn about the latest regulatory requirements impacting their businesses.

“The AFIA Feed Education Program offers attendees the opportunity to learn how regulations affect the animal food industry and share ideas to help the industry improve its manufacturing practices,” said Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs. “While we wish we could meet in person, we hope the virtual format opens up the program to others who typically can’t attend IPPE.”

The feed industry learned many things in 2020, including the value of being nimble and the benefits of instituting a good biosecurity program. The program’s featured speaker this year will present on just that – the importance of a good food safety and biosecurity plan. The agenda also includes updates on what a new administration means for regulatory, policy and leadership changes within the Food and Drug Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.

In addition to the educational portion of the program, AFIA will introduce the reorganized Feed Facility of the Year program as well as discuss new educational tools for feed manufacturers, including the updated online Feed Manufacturing Technology.

The AFIA Feed Education Program will be held from 3-5 p.m. ET on Jan. 28, 2021. Even though the program is free, pre-registration is required.
