Javier Salguero
University of Surrey - United Kingdom AuthorFrancisco Javier Salguero is Professor of Compared Pathology at the Department of Pathology and Infectious Dieases of the Veterinary Medicine/Science School at the University of Surrey (www.surrey.ac.uk/vet), where he teaches animal pathology and infectious diseases, especialy those of swine.
He is a member of the Royal College of Pathologists and holds a diploma from the European College of Porcine Health Management. He is also a consultant for the FAO in terms of swine pathology, and has carried out missions in several countries for different international organisations in matters related to cross-border swine diseases, and their identification and control. His research is mainly focused on swine respiratory diseases as, for instance, PRRS, mycoplasmosis and tuberculosis. As a pathologist, he currently carries out clinical diagnoses, making post mortem exams for epidemiologic surveillance and health monitoring of farms.
