12-Oct-2018boehringer-ingelheim-vetmedica-gmbhThere is this very interesting paper giving some data about ASF prevalence on wild boar and what the authors are calling the fourth cycle: wild boar- habitat.
Identification on wild boar -habitat epidemiologic cycle in african swine fever epizootic. Chenais et al. Emerg. infect Dis. 2018.
They mention that in the baltic area the prevalence in wild boar found dead was about 85%...but looking at the animals coming from hunting was only 0.5%-3% as this is in principle a healthy population and ASF has a high mortality rate.
For sure our colleagues working on wildlife will be really valuable to interpret the data so the true prevalence is not under or overestimated.
