Iowa Pork Industry Center to Offer PQA Plus™ Advisor Training Program

Veterinarians and others in Iowa’s pork industry can become Pork Quality Assurance Plus™ Advisors under the National Pork Board's PQA Plus™ program. The certification process requires attending a daylong training session and passing an exam at the conclusion of that session. The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) at Iowa State University (ISU) will hold one such training Aug. 21.

German parliamentary state secretary visits DLG office in China

German parliamentary state secretary for the Federation Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Dr. Gerd Müller, during an official trip to China, visited DLG Agriservice’s subsidiary China office, DLG AgroTechService in Beijing last week on 23 July 2009. The state secretary was welcomed by Bernd Koch, Managing Director of DLG-Agriservice.

Pork Board Elects Officers, Approves Budget for 2010

£100M boost for animal health research

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Institute for Animal Health (IAH) today welcomed the announcement by the Government of over £100M investment by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in the redevelopment of the UK’s world leading animal disease research laboratories at Pirbright in Surrey.

Maple Leaf Responds to Weatherill Report on Food Safety

Maple Leaf Foods today commented on the Weatherill Report that investigated the listeriosis outbreak last year that claimed the lives of 22 Canadians. The source of the contamination was three types of prepared meat products made at the Maple Leaf Foods Bartor Road plant in Toronto.
