Switzerland veterinary authorities have confirmed the presence of subclinical infection with PRRS virus in a pig farm in Ruswil (Sursee, Luzern). The farm has a total of 213 animals, of which 13 cases.

Switzerland confirmed the presence of the disease for the first time in the country in November 2012, when infected sows inseminated with contaminated semen of infected boars from Germany were detected. On 11 January 2013, the last results from the second serological testing round on all farms were negative, restrictions were lifted and Switzerland established its status as PRRS free.
