Spanish meat production fell by 6.6% in 2009

In 2009, 5,312,463 tons of meat was produced in the slaughterhouses of Spain. The decrease in production was more noticeable in 2009 compared to the minor change between 2007 and 2008.

In 2009, 5,312,463 tons of meat was produced in the slaughterhouses of Spain. The decrease in production was more noticeable in 2009 compared to the minor change between 2007 and 2008.

The production of pig meat continues to dominate compared to other species, with 3.23 million tons which represents 60% of the total. This is followed by poultry with 1.3 million tons (24.6% of the total).
