The Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, and the Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, Sun Meijun, have signed a new protocol to export pork to the Asian country within the framework of the official trip that the President of the Government is making to China.

The new pork protocol will expand the list of authorized products exported from Spain. In fact, the first Spanish product exported to China was pork. In 2024, exports of this product to the Asian country reached 571 million euros. Although there has been a downward trend since 2020, when they reached an all-time high, they account for 31% of Spain's sales to that country. The protocol will be valid for a period of five years and will be automatically renewed for equal and consecutive periods.
