The Central Veterinary Laboratory in Algete (Madrid) has confirmed that four more wild boars have tested positive for African swine fever (ASF). These animals were found in the vicinity of the previously reported cases in the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallés (Barcelona). With these new positive cases, the presence of the disease has been confirmed in a total of 13 wild boar, all in the same area.

The official veterinary services of Catalonia are continuing their visits and sampling at the 39 farms located in the affected area, which remain free of the disease. In addition, another 37 dead wild boars have been detected in and around the area, all of which have tested negative.

The national and regional administrations remind everyone to maintain a high level of alert, with strict biosecurity measures in place on farms and in wild boar populations.
