The Korean Minister of finance announced last week that South Korea foresees doubling the quantity of pork imported tax-free this year, going from 130.000 to 260.000 tons.

Starting in the second half of this year, 0% tax will be applied to the importation of these new 130.000 tons. The objectove of this new measure is to combat the high price of meat (prices have gone up 40& since January) due to the shortage provoked by the latest outbreaks of foot and mouth disease which have been affecting the country over the last few months.
