Russia planning to reduce red meat imports by 2012

Russia is planning to reduce meat imports to 18% by 2012 - more than two times lower than that in 2008, said the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Elena Skrynnik.

Russia is planning to reduce meat imports to 18% by 2012 - more than two times lower than that in 2008, said the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Elena Skrynnik.

According to her, for the first half of 2009, meat imports to Russia fell by almost 30% and, as predicted by the Ministry of Agriculture, before the end of 2009 the share of imports of meat will be reduced to 25% compared to 32% in 2008.
