Philippine hog production was up nearly 2.4% in the first half of 2013, data from the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics showed.

From January to June this year, total hog output was 956,250 tonnes live weight from 934,190 tonnes during the same period last year. Meanwhile, total swine inventory for the review period was 11.88 million heads, down slightly from 11.96 million last year. About 64% of the total inventory was raised by backyard farms, but stocks in these farms are down
