Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva held an official meeting during which four cooperation agreements were signed, focusing on investment facilitation, the negotiation of a partial agreement, maritime collaboration, and the implementation of an action plan for tourism.
One of the central themes was strengthening the agricultural and livestock sectors. Panama is interested in receiving Brazilian technical support to improve rice yields and explore opportunities for the livestock sector, especially in meat marketing.

Mulino highlighted the intention to position Panama as a regional re-export hub, leveraging its logistics platform, first-class ports, and its role as an international financial center. Advances in energy infrastructure and strategic projects linked to the Panama Canal were also presented.
Lula urged Panama to move toward full integration into Mercosur, which would expand trade opportunities in the region. This rapprochement reinforces technical and economic cooperation between the two countries, impacting Latin American agriculture and trade.
