Nicaragua achieved a national production of 3492.7 tons of pork in the first quarter, according to official data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. Pork production maintains positive performance, and pork consumption continues to gain acceptance among the Nicaraguan population. This trend not only responds to food preference factors, but also to the economic role that swine farming plays in the livelihood of thousands of producer families.
The progress is attributed, in part, to the efforts of small and medium producers, who have strengthened their productive capacities through technical and organizational support schemes. According to the Ministry, these results are the product of a public-private articulation model that has improved local supply and boosted territorial economies.
