New increase of the Spanish pig census

The total pig census in Spain (Iberian pig included) as of November 2015 was 28,367,335 heads: an increase by approximately 5% with respect to the census in May 2015.

The total pig census in Spain (Iberian pig included) as of November 2015 was 28,367,335 heads: an increase by approximately 5% with respect to the census in May 2015, according to the provincial analysis of the census of animals by category recently published by the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain.

Regarding the categories of animals, the census of November 2015 shows: 7,909,640 piglets; 17,953,181 fattening pigs; 38,247 boars and 2,466,266 sows, with increases in all the categories when compared with May 2015.

Regarding the autonomous communities, Catalonia still is the region with the highest census (7.69 million animals), followed by Aragon (6.90 million), Castile and Leon (3.69 million) and Andalusia (2.40 million), all of them with increases with respect to May 2015.
