Mexican pork imports up in the first two months of the year

The import volume increased despite the significant rise in prices.

Exports

  • Pork exports in the first two months increased by 3.9% compared to the same period in 2023, going from 31,938 to 33,187 t.
  • Export value (USD 135.9 million) increased by 7.2% and the average export price stood at USD 4,095/t.

Imports

  • Cumulative pork imports were 276,729 tons (t) at the end of the first two months, which represents an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period in 2023.
  • Around 800 tons of pork were imported from Brazil.
  • The cumulative value reached USD 538.2 million, resulting in an implicit price of USD 1,945/t and an increase of 1.7% compared to the average recorded in the first two months of 2023 (USD 1,912/t).
