The National Confederation of Livestock Organizations (CNOG) and the Mexican Pork Producers Organization (Opormex) endorsed the recent updates to the Decree and Agreement published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, concerning the Package Against Inflation and the Cost of Living (PACIC).

The new framework establishes a tariff on beef and pork imports from countries with which Mexico does not have a Free Trade Agreement, while also setting maximum tariff-free import quotas: 70,000 tons for beef and 51,000 tons for pork. These measures are the result of coordinated efforts between the Ministries of Agriculture, Economy, and Finance and Public Credit to guarantee market stability.

The Mexican government reaffirmed that the supply of beef and pork is guaranteed and that the actions taken are aligned with the Mexico Plan, which aims to strengthen the agri-food sector and prioritize the well-being of farming families, rural job creation, and food security.

The Ministry of Agriculture will continue to promote shared responsibility and monitor compliance with these decrees to ensure that the agri-food sector operates with certainty and a long-term vision, benefiting both Mexican producers and consumers.
