Mexico – Help for the agricultural and livestock sector

The secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fishing and Food (SAGARPA) announced that faced with the destruction caused by meteorological phenomena in the sector, the institution has a budget of 900 million pesos available this year to insure, with the participation of the states, just over seven million hectares for cultivation and 4.5 million animal units. These resources will allow the purchase of insurance policies or the implementation of direct aid.

With this program, cover is offered to just over 3,400,000 producers with low income in 1,700 municipalities in the country. They are working so that this insurance gives priority to farmers and breeders that live in communities of a high or very high level of isolation.
