The average potential yield of late grain in the core zone, which was estimated at 8 to 9 t/ha, was reduced by 30% due to leafhopper-borne disease. There is concern that damage may continue to increase as the crop cycle progresses, now that symptoms have become more evident week by week.

In the 560,000 ha sown with late grain, south-central Santa Fe is the most affected by the disease with approximately 80% damage and fields completely lost. Towards the south, the presence of leafhoppers persists, but losses are decreasing.
