Close to 500 Dutch swine producers have decided to create the "Varkens Vandaag"(Pigs Today) organization whose objective is to combat the negative image of the sector portrayed by the media and instead offer a positive image, portraying itself as an important link in the food chain.
Among their plans, offering information about swine farms directed towards the general public stands out, as well as collaborating with animal wellbeing activists, a plan to respond as one voice to media criticism and the organization of “open houses”.
