Lower Saxony presented, before the federal government, its motion for resolution for introducing a compulsory animal welfare labelling for meat products that includes both animal welfare criteria as well as the origin of the meat products and sausages, bearing in mind the interest of the consumers to know the housing, transport and slaughter conditions of the animals.

On the other hand, last week, the federal government agreed on the introduction of a uniform state and voluntary label in favour of animal welfare to tag animal-derived food. The label has three levels of welfare: raising, transport and slaughtero.
