Germany - Record pork and poultry production figures in 2009

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), more than 7.7 million tonnes of meat were produced from commercial slaughtering in Germany in 2009.

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), more than 7.7 million tonnes of meat were produced from commercial slaughtering in Germany in 2009.

That was a 2.5% increase on a year earlier. Pork accounted for the largest share (67.9%) in total meat production. It was followed by poultry (16.6%) and beef (15.2%). The proportion of mutton/lamb, goat and horse meat totalled not more than 0.3%.
