The Official Journal of the Republic of France issued an order last Friday regulating the mandatory health monitoring on pig farms. The visit to the holding, which will be conducted by a Veterinary Officer, is linked to the new inspections carried out in slaughterhouses, and is part of the visual inspection program.

Compulsory health inspection aims to increase awareness among farmers about veterinary public health, as well as measures to improve the level of health risk control in their holdings.

During the visit, data and information related to veterinary public health will be collected that may cover part or all of the following aspects: type of facilities and equipment, health management, animal protection, operation of farms in relation to health risks and biosecurity, and updating of health records and documents.
