Since the last update on the African swine fever (ASF) situation dated January 12, the Official Veterinary Services (SVO) of the Generalitat de Catalunya have reported the detection of five new secondary outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars.
Two of them were reported on January 16 and three on January 23. A total of 25 animals were found dead, all located within the high-risk area defined by a 6-kilometer radius around the initial cases.

This brings the total number of outbreaks reported to date to 20, three of which are primary and 17 secondary, including a total of 85 positive cases in wild boars.
In addition, another 749 animals have been tested with negative results, of which 404 were captured, and 345 were sampled through passive surveillance (whole carcasses or remains found in the wild or animals with symptoms that were killed) in the infected area and its surroundings (see map).
