Ministers discussed the agricultural market situation after the impacts of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Although signs of stability are emerging, challenges like climate change, animal and plant diseases, and global trade tensions persist. The Council acknowledged the EU-Ukraine agreement reached on 30 June 2025 and Ukraine's alignment with EU production standards by 2028, but some raised concerns over the effect on EU farmers. Support was reiterated for the Commission's negotiations with the US, and there were calls to tighten import restrictions from Russia and Belarus. Several ministers also addressed the crisis in the wine sector.
