Chinese pork production up in the first quarter of 2025

China's pork output and pig inventory both saw year-on-year increases in the first quarter of 2025.

In the first quarter, China's output of pork, beef, mutton, and poultry was 25.40 million tons, up by 2.0% year on year. Of this total, pork output grew by 1.2%, beef by 2.7%, and poultry by 5.1%, while mutton output dropped by 5.1%.

At the end of the first quarter, the number of pigs registered in stock was 417.31 million, up by 2.2% year on year; and 194.76 million pigs were slaughtered, up by 0.1% in the first quarter.
