Chinese pork production decreased by more than 20% in 2019

ASF has led to a significant decline in Chinese pork production over the past year.

In 2019, the production of pork, beef, mutton and poultry was 76.49 million tons, down 10.2 percent over the previous year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of China

Specifically, beef production was 6.67 million tons, up 3.6 percent; mutton, 4.88 million tons, up by 2.6 percent; poultry, 22.39 million tons, up by 12.3 percent; eggs, 33.09 million tons, up by 5.8 percent; milk, 32.01 million tons, up by 4.1 percent; and pork, 42.55 million tons, down by 21.3 percent.
