Chile has launched the Information and Food Alerts net (RIAL).

This platform is coordinated by the Chilean Agency for Food Quality and Harmlessness (Achipia), and it is a quick exchange system between public services in relation to food harmlessness events of foods present in the national market or that are exported to other countries.

The Net has a procedure known and accepted by all the participant services that established their roles and duties in the RIAL, and that operates under a confidentiality principle. The information circulates only between the participant public services.

“With this, Chile puts itself at the forefront in Latin America, being the first country to implement this kind of net, following a tendency that is being promoted by the European Union. The model that has been taken into account for the design of the RIAL was that of the European Union's RASFF (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed)”, stated Achipa's Executive Secretary, Nuri Gras.
