Bulgaria: restructuring of the pig and poultry breeding sectors

Fifty million leva have been secured for restructuring of the pig and poultry breeding sectors, announced the Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov.

Fifty million leva have been secured for restructuring of the pig and poultry breeding sectors, announced the Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov.

They will be distributed equally and each sector will receive BGN 25 million. He added that the deadlines of euro standards which owners of farms have to meet by the end of this year. Among the requirements are construction of special facilities for washing animals, toys for animals and maintaining of indoor climate. Minister Naydenov noted that the majority of farms have already comply with these conditions. In Bulgaria there are 800,000 pigs. We take measures to stabilize the industry, added the Minister.
