Brazil/China: exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation

China stands ready to work with Brazil to deepen the cooperation in all sub-sectors of agriculture.

Vice Minister Yu Xinrong met Mr. Neri Geller, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) of the Federative Republic of Brazil, in Beijing on Nov. 13, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Yu reviewed the good cooperative relationship between MOA and MAPA over the years. He mentioned that both sides had benefited a lot by learning from each other’s advanced agri-technologies and development experience. China stands ready to work with Brazil to deepen the cooperation in all sub-sectors of agriculture: i) to push forward bilateral agricultural cooperation in a pragmatic manner and work together to improve the overall effectiveness of agricultural cooperation between China and Latin America region; ii)to intensify agricultural R&D collaboration and promote innovation in agricultural technology of both sides; iii) to give full play to China-Brazil Joint Committee on Agriculture and its working groups to create an enabling environment for practical cooperation; and iv) to promote agricultural trade and two-way investment and sharpen competitiveness of agribusiness of two countries.
