The Official Veterinary Services of the Generalitat de Catalunya have reported the detection of two new secondary outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars, affecting 1 and 9 animals, respectively. Both are located in the vicinity of the outbreaks reported previously. All the outbreaks detected to date are located in an area of approximately 30 km2, known as the "core zone". This zone is completely isolated from the rest of the 20 km radius Infected Zone as it is totally surrounded by the fences of the various nearby motorways.
With these two new outbreaks, nine outbreaks have been reported to date, two of them primary and the other seven secondary, with a total number of 26 positive animals. A further 175 animals found dead in the wild or on roads or railways in and around the infected area have been tested and found to be negative.
