According to the OIE, and while waiting for the confirmation from the reference laboratory for African Swine Fever (ASF), Serbia has reported the presence of ASF in backyard pigs for the first time in this country.

So far, four outbreaks have been reported in the north-central part of the country, between July 30th and August 7th. The first three cases were detected on farms with 10 to 24 animals, in the municipality of Mladenovac, Belgrade district. The fourth involves a farm with 64 pigs in the neighbouring municipality of Smederevska Palanka (Podunavski district).
