Argentina: Pork Consumption Promotion Programme

The purpose of the programme, besides the promotion of consumption, is to reduce the seasonal fall in the price of pork between the months of April and July 2017, that happens every year.

Through the signing of a Framework Agreement, seven organizations of the Argentinian Pig Sector: the Pig Producers' Association of Argentina (AAPP), the Pig Producers' Association of Santa Fe (APPORSAFE), the Pig Producers' Chamber of Córdoba (CAPPCOR), the Pig Producers' Chamber of Entre Ríos (CAPPER), the Pig Farms Technological Exchange Group (GITEP), the Lean Pork Commercialisation Group (PORMAG) and the Argentinian Rural Society (SRA), launched the Fresh Pork Consumption Promotion Programme with the “voluntary” contribution of $1 per sold barrow that will create a fund that is expected to grow with an identical contribution by the National Government.
