GuanAMINO® – AMINO ACID DERIVATIVE AND A NATURAL PRECURSOR OF CREATINE
The active compound of GuanAMINO®, guanidino - acetic acid (GAA), is a derivative of the amino acids glycine and arginine. GAA is the natural metabolic precursor for creatine. This indicates that animals are well equipped to fully utilize GAA.
CREATINE – FUNCTION AND NEED
Creatine is a constituent of central importance in energy metabolism, particularly of muscle cells. Therefore, more than 90% of the body’s creatine pool is located in muscle tissues. In the body, creatine is formed by de novo synthesis through methylation of guanidinoacetic acid, which itself is formed from the amino acids glycine and arginine. The animal’s demand for creatine can partly be ful - filled directly from animal byproducts which have limited amounts of creatine. It is estimated that around two-thirds of the daily need for creatine is covered by the body’s own synthesis, while the rest must be supplied through the feed. Especially in modern fast-growing animals, the creatine demand cannot be fully met by the de novo synthesis. Supple - mentation of GuanAMINO® in the feed compensates the gap in creatine.
KEY FACTS ABOUT
GuanAMINO® GuanAMINO® is the best creatine source due to its outstanding stability in processing and high bioavail - ability to the animal. GuanAMINO® is a preparation of GAA granulated with starch, to match the handling needs of the feed industry. It is virtually dust free, free flowing and has perfect handling characteristics.
