Boehringer Ingelheim recognizes Victoria Schnitzker, Olivier Bourry and Marina Meester as winners of the European PRRS Research Awards 2024
On behalf of the review committee, Nicolai Weber (Danish Agriculture & Food Council) was in charge of presenting the awards to the three research proposals chosen to promote the development of practical methods for PRRS control and to recognize scientific achievements in this field.
The European PRRS Research Award 2024 went to:
- Victoria Schnitzler (Vetmeduni) with "New diagnostic approaches to detect PRRSV in different sampling materia"
- Olivier Bourry (Swine Virology Immunology Unit, ANSES Ploufragan Laboratory) with "Evaluation of the airborne transmission of two PRRSV-1 strains of different virulence levels and of an affordable filtration system to prevent this transmission"
- Marina Meester (Department of Population Health Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht University) with "IMPACT: Introduction on mutations of PRRSv? – Advise for Control using advanced geneTic analyses".
who received €25,000 each to develop their research work.
These names are added to a long list of winners, led by Spanish researchers with a total of eight awards.
Call open until June 30
Boehringer Ingelheim has opened the call for the 12th edition of the European PRRS Research Awards, which is available to receive nominations until next June 30.
These awards reflect the company's commitment to providing value through innovation and support research on PRRS, considered one of the most challenging diseases in the pig industry.
With an annual frequency, the independent review committee is chaired by Enric Mateu (Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona) and has a team formed by Julia Stadler (LMU Munich), Nicolai Weber (Danish Agriculture & Food Council), Giovanbattista Danilo Guadagnini (VetEvolution), Carles Vilalta (IRTA-CReSA) and Joachim Seelhoff (Vet-Team Vechta).
