On 3 December, the B.O.E. (official state gazette of the Government of Spain) published the PRE/2565/2015 Order in which it notified the inclusion of IRTA-CReSA in the Biological Alert Laboratory Network as a reference laboratory, managed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) through the National Health Institute Carlos III.

The “RE-LAB” Biological Alert Laboratory Network is made up by eight reference laboratories that form the scientific and technical infrastructure of the National System for the Management of Crisis Situations that will deal with crisis caused by any suspicion of risk or threat of hazardous biological agents.

The “RE-LAB” has a system to communicate with the competent authorities aiming to provide rapid and efficient responses to threats to public health or to deactivate those that are not.
