Visitors to FIGAP/VIV América Latina 2010 highly appreciated this trade event for animal production and meat processing and expressed their satisfaction with an extremely high score of 8/10. What was also notable was the lengthy amount of time that visitors stayed, on average seven hours, and the commitment of no less than 80% of the visitors to attend the next event. The first FIGAP/VIV América Latina event took place between 21 and 23 October at the Expo Guadalajara, Mexico. These positive evaluation results, from 4,061 visitors, offer a strong basis for the continuity of the event.

Exhibitors at FIGAP/VIV América Latina showcased the industry's developments using the Feed to Meat concept, bringing together supply and demand within the complete animal protein chain. The driver behind this concept is that animal feed and animal health are vital for meat quality and safety. FIGAP/VIV América Latina represents every step in the meat production process. Related topics were featured in the FIGAP/VIV América Latina Conference.

The majority of visitor interest was, successively, in the following sectors: compound feed processing & grain processing equipment and supplies (54%), feed ingredients, additives, raw materials (50%), animal health (47%), animal farm equipment (39%), animal breeding (27%), compound feed (22%), meat, eggs, dairy, fish processing, packaging and handling (20%), slaughtering, egg handling and milking equipment (17%).
The top 5 visitor employment sectors related to: poultry broilers (25%) pigs (21%), cattle and calves for meat (19%) and dairy cows (15%).

FIGAP/VIV América Latina exhibitors were also satisfied with the results. Although the quality of the visitors was considered very good, the international exhibitors in particular expressed a desire to see more visitors from Central and South America. Among the ten sectors that were brought together at the exhibition, clear differences with regard to the level of satisfaction could be seen. Suppliers of compound feed processing equipment were very positive and expressed this with a score of 7.3. The farm equipment and meat processing equipment exhibitors were less content and evaluated their exhibition attendance with a score of 5.8. Working in conjunction with the exhibitors and sector representatives, the next FIGAP/VIV América Latina event must therefore pay more attention to visitor promotion in respect of the target groups for these sectors.

The dates for the next FIGAP/VIV América Latina event are from 18 to 20 October 2012 (inclusive) and the event will once again be held at the Expo Guadalajara, Mexico. The exhibition is a joint-venture between FIGAP, the leading animal feed tradeshow organizer in Mexico, and VNU Exhibitions Europe, organizers of the VIV tradeshows for the animal husbandry industry. This combination offers international and national companies a strong livestock business platform in Latin America’s emerging market.
