Yooni Oh

FAO - South Korea Author

Dr Oh, Yooni, national of South Korea, has joined FAO RAP in August 2018. She is a veterinarian with a strong academic background and solid experience in virology, immunology, and epidemiology.

She is currently responsible for African swine fever (ASF) programme for Asia and the Pacific region as well as related issues for the Global Framework for the Progressive control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TAD). Her previous role was to take care of overall One Health issues, especially emerging/re-emerging infectious diseases and other zoonotic disease issues and Tripartite coordination (FAO-OIE-WHO) and partnership with other relevant organisations.

Prior to FAO, she worked for the government, in charge of managing research projects, such as FMD, rabies, PRRS, and other diseases of public and animal health concern. Before she joined FAO, she worked under epidemiology division and responsible for collecting and disseminating animal disease situation in Korea and for circulating epidemiological survey results on notifiable diseases. She also worked as a Regional Project Coordinator at the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), responsible for overall One Health related issues and tripartite collaboration as well as activities to GF-TADs and animal welfare in the region.

She holds PhD in veterinary science (virus immunology), master’s in veterinary public health, and doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM).
