Lisbeth Ulrich Hansen
Chief Researcher at SEGES Innovation - Denmark AuthorI am a trained agronomist and currently work as a chief researcher at SEGES Innovation, where I am responsible for conducting trials.
My primary areas are trials with the design of barns for gilts and free-range sows in all barn sections. All trials take place in pig herds, and therefore the research is relevant to Danish pig producers. The goal is to develop barns where animals and people thrive, and where the producer's earnings are in focus, while ensuring the welfare of the animals. I have been part of several experimental and demonstration projects with a focus on increased sow survival. In terms of trials, the focus has been on grouping of sows and lameness, and knowledge gained in trials has been tried to be implemented "on the barn floor" via articles, lectures and podcasts.
I am a very experienced communicator both via articles and publishing; just as I have given many lectures at many professional levels over time. I have a broad network among pig producers, companies, researchers, advisors and veterinarians who work in the same field. In my work, I have acted as a project manager, and therefore collaborated with many different actors. I have broad knowledge of agriculture as a profession and as a workplace. I am good at getting processes to run in a targeted manner, am good at listening to other people's input, but can also make decisions when necessary. I am very structured and this is a clear advantage when both experiments and dissemination tasks are to be carried out. There are many stakeholders around the experiments, and therefore the overview must be maintained. For several years, I have been privately active in a number of boards and associations locally.
