Isabel Hennig-Pauka

Field Station for Epidemiology, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover - Germany Author

After graduation from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany, in 1995 she worked for one year as a swine practitioner. In 1997 she got her doctoral degree for investigation in Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae at the Institute of Microbiology. In the following years she was an academic employee at the Clinic for Swine and Small Ruminants and then a scientist at the Institute of Microbiology, University of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover until 2005. In 2002 she became a specialist in swine medicine due to national rules and in 2007 a Diplomate of the European College of Porcine Health Management. She got the Venia legendi for swine diseases in 2007.

From 2012-2016 she was the Head of the University Clinic for Swine, University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria. Since the end of 2016 she is the director of the Field Station for Epidemiology, Bakum, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. The Field Station for Epidemiology is a diagnostic institute for swine in a swine dense region in the north-western part of Germany. Isabel Hennig-Pauka is involved in teaching and clinical research on swine farms and in the lab. Her focus is maintenance of health as well as disease pathogenesis by interaction of endemic pathogens, environmental factors and immune response.
