She holds a degree in veterinary medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG - 1989), a master's degree in Animal Science from the same institution (1994), a PhD in Animal Science from the University of Alberta (2000), and a postdoctoral degree from Wageningen University (2011). She is an associate professor in the Department of Morphology at the Institute of Biological Sciences (UFMG) and has collaborated on projects developed at the Roslin Institute (Edinburgh University), the University of Calgary, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at USP (Pirassununga Campus), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), the University of Passo Fundo (UPF), and the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro. She is an advisor in the Graduate Programs in Cell Biology (CAPES Concept 7) and Animal Science (CAPES Concept 7), both at UFMG. She is a member of the editorial board of the journals Frontiers in Physiology, Reproduction in Domestic Animals, and Revista Brasileira de Reprodução Animal, as well as a reviewer for several international and national journals. She is currently President of the Brazilian Association of Veterinary Specialists in Swine in Minas Gerais (ABRAVES MG), a member of the board of directors of the International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS), and a member of the advisory board of LADOHAD (Latin American Association of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease). Level 2 researcher at CNPq and leader of the research group “Structural Biology and Reproduction.” She has experience in the field of Veterinary Medicine, with an emphasis on Animal Reproduction, working in the following lines of research: interactions between nutrition and reproduction, Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD), vertebrate reproductive biology, structural biology and pathophysiology of reproduction, and artificial insemination in pigs.
