Cristina Muñoz Madero

She graduated in Veterinary Medicine/Science from the Complutense University of Madrid, and she also graduated in Business Administration and Management from the Business Alliance of Madrid, CEOE-CEIM.

She worked in a small animal clinic until 1990, when she joined the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products, where she has worked as a scientific consultant in the assessment of medicinal veterinary medicines.

She is currently the chief of centralised preclinical and clinical procedures. In 2008-2009 she worked for the European Medicines Agency (EMA), in the project “Joint Report on Antimicrobial Resistance focused on Zoonotic infections” together with different European agencies and the European Commission.

Since 2004 she is the Spanish representative in the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP). Since 2004 also she is a member of the Ad Hoc Expert Group on Veterinary Novel Therapies (ADVENT) of the European Medicines Agency, and as such she has coordinated the development of different guidelines about medicines with novel therapies. Since January 2017, she is the President of the Efficacy Working Party (EWP) of the European Medicines Agency.

She is also the coordinator for the “Strategic and action plan to reduce the risk of selection and spread of antibiotic resistance” (PRAM).
