Torque teno sus virus

In pigs, torque teno virus was initially associated with the wasting syndrome related to circovirus but today its importance is unknown.

Information

There are two species of torque teno virus (TTV1 and TTV2) that infect pigs. These viruses were initially associated with porcine circovirus and with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS). Today its epidemiology and its importance is still unknown.

  • None.

 

Causes / Contributing Factors

  • May be related to porcine circovirus.

 

Diagnosis

  • Identification of the virus by PCR.
