Spain: new Minister of Agriculture

The current Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Ms. Isabel García Tejerina, will be the new Minister, replacing Mr. Miguel Arias Cañete.

The current Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Ms. Isabel García Tejerina, will be the new Minister, replacing Mr. Miguel Arias Cañete.

Ms. Isabel García Tejerina will assume her new position on Monday 28th March at 19.30 h in the presence of the king, according to the Palace of La Moncloa.

García Tejerina is an agronomist from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Polytechnic University of Madrid), has a degree in Law from the University of Valladolid, and an MSc degree in European Communities from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and another MSc degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Davis (California).

Ms. Garcia Tejerina has been the Secretary General of Agriculture since February 2012, and is considered the right-hand man of Mr. Arias Cañete.
