Santa Catarina ended 2025 with a record performance in animal protein exports. For the year as a whole, the state exported 2 million tons of meat (chicken, pork, turkey, duck, beef, and others) with revenues of US$4.50 billion, up 2.8% in volume and 8.4% in value compared to 2024. These results are the best in the historical series that began in 1997 and consolidate Santa Catarina's leading role in international trade in the sector.

In 2025, Santa Catarina accounted for 19.5% of Brazil's meat exports, making it the country's second-largest meat-exporting state.

In December alone, shipments from Santa Catarina totaled 193,000 tons, with revenues of USD 428.6 million, representing a month-on-month growth of 23.5% in volume and 21.6% in value. Compared to December 2024, this was an increase of 14.1% in volume and 17% in revenue.

Pork

Brazilian pork exports also reached a historic level in 2025. For the year as a whole, Santa Catarina exported 748,800 tons, generating USD 1.85 billion in revenue, up 4.1% in volume and 9.4% in value compared to 2024. This is the best annual performance in the historical series, both in volume and revenue, maintaining Santa Catarina as the largest producer and exporter of pork in the country.

The state accounted for 50.9% of the volume and 51.8% of the total revenue of Brazilian pork exports during the period. The three main destinations for Santa Catarina pork in 2025 were Japan (21% of total revenue), the Philippines (19.2%), and China (15.6%). Of particular note is the growth in exports to Mexico, a country that recently reached fourth position in the Santa Catarina ranking, with increases of 78.7% in quantity and 82.8% in revenue compared to 2024.
