In the first four months of this year, Santa Catarina achieved its best performance in meat exports in the last 28 years. From January to April, the state shipped 677,600 tons of meat (chicken, pork, turkey, duck, teal, beef, and others), generating revenues of 1.47 billion USD. The figures represent increases of 7.3% in volume and 16.2% in revenue compared to the same period in 2024, consolidating the state as one of the sector's main export hubs in the country.
In April alone, Santa Catarina exported 179,100 tons, with revenues of 398.4 million USD - the second-best monthly result in the historical series in terms of value, behind only October 2024. The figures were released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) and compiled by the Center for Socioeconomics and Agricultural Planning (Epagri/Cepa).

According to the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Chiodini, the results confirm the positive projections for the sector and reinforce Santa Catarina's potential as the main national exporter of pork and the second largest exporter of chicken meat.
Pork's record performance
In April, Santa Catarina exported 64,700 tons of pork, with revenues of 155.8 million USD - increases of 10.9% in volume and 8.5% in value compared to March. Compared to April 2024, the increases were 7.1% and 12.4%, respectively. The result represents the best April in the historical series that began in 1997, both in terms of volume and revenue.
In the four months to date, Santa Catarina shipped 240,300 tons of pork, with revenues of 579.1 million USD - increases of 8.7% and 17.7%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The main markets were Japan (20.5% of revenues), China (19.5%), and the Philippines (19.3%). Japan stood out with a 64.9% increase in pork purchases from Santa Catarina compared to the first four months of last year. Santa Catarina continues to be the national leader in the segment, accounting for 53.6% of the volume and 54% of the revenue from Brazilian exports in the period.
