Russia detects ASF virus DNA in sausages

The infected products were produced in a factory in the Kaluga region and have been distributed to 136 retail outlets.

According to information from the Russian Food and Veterinary Safety Agency (Rosselkhoznadzor) in Chelyabinsk, veterinary laboratories confirmed the presence of African swine fever (ASF) virus in Buterbrodnaya brand sausages and raw materials.

The infected products were produced at the Itera plant, located in the city of Balabanovo in the Kaluga region. Following the detection of ASF virus DNA, the company immediately sent a warning to Chelyabinsk that some 285 kg of finished products had been placed on the market.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the infected products may currently be in 136 retail outlets.
