According to data published by the GPP, provided by INE as preliminary data, the number of pigs imported for slaughter increased by 0.2% (+2,004 pigs) in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, going from 900,411 head in 2024 to 904,415 head in 2025. Total weight increased by 2.2%, from 95,566 tons in 2024 to 97,626 tons in 2025. This gives an average weight of 107.95 kg BW in 2025, compared to 108.1 kg BW in 2024.
As for piglets weighing less than 50 kg BW, 118,728 heads were imported in 2025 with an average weight of 11.4 kg BW, compared to 127,799 heads in 2024 with an average weight of 12 kg BW. 9,070 fewer piglets were imported in 2025 than in 2024, and they were 600 g lighter on average.

Imports of pork and pork products increased by 6.3%, from 100,187 tons in 2024 to 106,530 tons in 2025. Pork imports break down as follows: imports of frozen pork remained stable, from 24,280 tons in 2024 to 24,276 tons in 2025. Imports of fresh/chilled pork increased by 8.4%, from 75,907 tons in 2024 to 82,254 tons in 2025.
There was a 57.5% increase in offal imports, from 1,362 tons in 2024 to 2,145 tons in 2025.
The value of imports fell by 0.3% in 2025, or -1.54 million euros, from 568.929 million euros in 2024 to 567.389 million euros in 2025.
